Das 1953 im Chalet-Stil errichtete Einfamilienhaus der Familie Erni in Thun wurde 2020 unter Beibehaltung der ursprünglichen Gebäudestruktur restauriert. Das Gebäude wurde energetisch so verbessert, dass es die Schweizer Zertifizierung als Plus-Energie-Gebäude erhielt. Dank der Energieeffizienz der Gebäudehülle und der Verwendung energiesparender Geräte konnte der Gesamtenergiebedarf des Gebäudes um 85 % gesenkt werden, von 48.500 kWh/Jahr auf 7.500 kWh/Jahr. Beide Dachschrägen sind mit integrierten Photovoltaikmodulen bedeckt.

Die BIPV-Module sind über die beiden Dachschrägen verteilt, sodass die gesamte verfügbare Fläche abgedeckt ist und eine gleichmäßig dunkle Oberfläche entsteht.

Die BIPV-Anlage produziert ca. 17.900 kWh pro Jahr, was einer Energieversorgung entspricht, die 238 % des Bedarfs des Hauses deckt.
